According to Bloomberg, Microsoft has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on the development of a supercomputer designed for the artificial intelligence-based ChatGPT chatbot of the OpenAI company. In its blog, Microsoft announced how it has created a powerful infrastructure for artificial intelligence running within the Azure cloud platform. It was noted in the information that for the development of the supercomputer, Microsoft company has integrated a thousand graphics processors of NVIDIA on the Azure platform. This, in turn, has allowed OpenAI to run more powerful AI models and enable artificial intelligence capabilities in Bing, updated with ChatGPT.
Scott Guthrie, Microsoft's vice president of artificial intelligence and cloud technologies, said that the company spent hundreds of millions of dollars on this project. While this might seem like a small investment for a big tech company like Microsoft, it recently started investing billions of dollars in OpenAI. This, in turn, is a clear example of Microsoft's desire to develop in this direction. The company has already started work on making the artificial intelligence system of the Azure platform more powerful. This is realized by using NVIDIA's H100 and A100 Tensor Core graphics processors. According to Microsoft, this will allow OpenAI and other companies to develop smarter and larger artificial intelligence models.
