One of the most common questions from people ordering a new website is this: build on a ready-made CMS or write a system from scratch? Both have their place.
When a ready-made CMS fits
Platforms like WordPress and Joomla are a good choice for a corporate site, a blog or a small online shop. The project is ready quickly, the cost is low and your staff can change texts and images themselves. Keeping plugins up to date matters here, because most attacks come through outdated plugins and themes. The more plugins you add, the slower the site gets and the higher the risk.
When you need a custom system
If your business has its own processes, such as order management, a warehouse, a CRM, a customer portal or integration with other systems, building them out of plugins gets hard. A custom system has only the features you need, the code belongs to you and it can grow in whatever direction you want. The initial cost and timeline are higher.
How to decide
Ask yourself three questions: is the site only there to inform, or is it part of how you work? Which features will be added in the next 2–3 years? Who will manage the site? The answers usually make the choice for you.
